1 Star

This course is for beginners who have done little or no kayaking before. It is the first part of the British Canoeing scheme and its aim is to provide basic kayaking techniques and essential background knowledge. By the end of the course you will have achieved a good understanding of the basic handling techniques. learn the fundamentals of paddle sport, how to go straight, turn your craft, different strokes and maneuvers, capsize and recovery.

We have various craft including closed cockpit kayaks and sit on top kayaks.

We have a fleet of canoes for solo or tandem lessons.

1 day training and assessment £60 each person minimum of 6 persons.

2 Star

This course is the second level of the British Canoeing scheme. The 2 Star helps paddlers to develop fundamental flat water skills, concentrating on personal paddling skills, rescue skills, safety, leadership skills, group skills and theory. By the end of the course you will have achieved an extensive range of flat water strokes and skills in both canoes and kayaks.

2 days training £100 each person minimum of 6 persons. 

Assessment day to be arranged after the training has been consolidated and the participant feels ready.
